Get Curious About Discomfort
Discomfort is what happens when we are on the precipice of change. Unfortunately, we often confuse discomfort for unhappiness and try to avoid it. But it usually takes a bit (or a lot) of discomfort to break through to a new understanding, to release a limiting belief, to motivate ourselves to create and see real change.
Taking a risk can feel uncomfortable. When you risk, you don’t know how things will turn out. It’s possible that you won’t get what you want or that things will be worse. Every choice has a price, something you gain and something you lose. We never know what’s ahead. But to risk—to experience discomfort—should be viewed as an investment in curiosity. Should shift our thinking from “why me?” to “what now?” Should help us realize that if we stay the same, we’ll never get to see what happens next.
