Challenge Yourself By Doing
We often wait until we feel complete or ready to begin, but it is through the act of beginning that we find a sense of completion.
It can be uncomfortable and scary to change and to do something that we know is good for us but feels unfamiliar. But it’s actually way more uncomfortable in the long-run to not do anything. And that’s what we have to be afraid of—what happens to me if I don’t do this?
We have to choose to be uncomfortable today in service of our future self. Because the motivation to change is not going to suddenly appear on its own. That motivation is going to be built through the act of doing even though we’re uncertain.
That first push is the hardest, that beginning transitional period when the old is finished and the new hasn’t yet begun. But we can only gain where we have first lost; we can only transform where we first upend. Anything worth doing in life is going to challenge you.
Be willing to endure what is challenging for what is worthwhile.
